Value study
try to pick out the correct values in a color picture
things I learned
need to not focus on detail and pay attention to values closer
Im glad I figured out the larger shapes first but I need to not get to into detail too quick
figureout my darkest and lightest first then get into the inbetweens

So here is today's painting I did it in about an hour
I was focusing on color matching and I bouched the sky color and got a bit into detail in the lower left of the tree but I thinking I kinda got some of the colors down
I think I'm going to focus on some grey scale recreations for a bit to learn value a bit more



This is some work that I have been meaning to post from my digital painting class at gnomon with Sam Gedhardt as My Teacher
The class was great and I recommend it to anyone looking to work on there digital painting skills

The Top painting was my final still alot more that I could have done on it but I think I need to study reality a bit more

Finally figured out the lighting issues now time to tweek the lighting till I get some nice night foggy lighting

I put some of my props into the scene and Im not to happy with the lighting on them or in general
the shadows are all bloby, not sure why cause I have the lighting maps set high to get the most resolution for shadows but there still bloby
I figure it out today

I got the cathedral in UDK finally and really worked the lighting I like it so far but there are a few more things that I would like to do

So back to the house for a bit I got it in UDK finally and Im liking my lighting so far
Now Im planning on adding vertex blending with dirt maps and adding background elements.
